Social Responsibility

Asia Education Foundation

With our assistance, Asia Education Foundation Limited (AEF) was founded in August 2006. Upon its incorporation, we further assisted AEF in its application for charitable status under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance in 2008 and subsequently, charitable status was granted to AEF by the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department in October 2008.

The aim of AEF is to improve the lives of talented and hardworking, yet underprivileged students, by helping them to receive a university education in China. It is currently focused on China, a country where not all young outstanding students can afford attend to university. AEF hopes that the opportunities given to these young adults will instill in them an appreciation and desire to help others, thus extending far beyond the original scholarship students.

From monetary donations, AEF from time to time provides scholarships to destitute students for their university tuition fees. AEF has currently entered into agreements with three prominent universities in China, namely, Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University, Nanjing University, and South China University of Technology.

Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University was founded in 1924 by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Sun Yat-sen University is a vibrant community of scholarship and learning characterized by its revolutionary spirit.

Nanjing University is one of China’s key comprehensive universities under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education and was founded in 1902. Today’s Nanjing University consists of three beautiful campuses, Gulou, Pukou, and Xianlin.

South China University of Technology (SCUT) is one of China’s key universities operating under the direct leadership of the State Ministry of Education. The university, which has a total area of 294 hectares, is situated in Guangzhou, a southern metropolitan in China.

Upon selection of the scholarship students by the selection panel, AEF pays the designated scholarship funds to the university, directing the university to use the funds to cover the tuition fees of the scholarship students.
