Claire is the firm’s Head of Information Management. Claire has a Masters Degree in Library and Information Management and is an associate member of CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, in the United Kingdom. She also holds a BA (Hons) Degree in English Literature and Philosophy from the University of Durham. She has worked for almost twenty years in the information management profession in both the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.

Claire began her career at the Literary and Philosophical Society of Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom. She then worked for a number of years in a corporate finance library at an international investment bank in London before relocating to Hong Kong in 2003. Throughout her time in Hong Kong, she has lectured part time on various Information and Library Management courses at Hong Kong University’s School for Professional and Continuing Education. Claire joined Charltons in 2007 as Head of Information Management. Claire has experience of managing hard copy and virtual library collections, information storage and retrieval, knowledge management solutions, the effective use of information technologies and systems and records management. She has wide experience in organising international conferences and events for both information professionals and lawyers.

Claire maintains Charltons’ knowledge and information management content and processes. It is vital that the firm’s knowledge and know-how is effectively shared and accessible by all lawyers and staff. Successful information management systems help ensure that lawyers, and therefore clients, can access the wealth of shared knowledge in a timely fashion. Charltons understands that the accuracy and currency of information is critical to being able to provide clients with the quality of service that they have come to expect from the firm. The firm values the power of information and the need to have an efficient and effective way to create, store, access, share and retain critical information. A well-devised and effective information management framework is central to enabling lawyers to easily access accurate and reliable information, allowing them to focus their efforts on providing legal services to their clients.

Charltons not only appreciates the need to effectively and efficiently share information internally, between lawyers and other staff, but also values the importance of sharing its knowledge with clients. Charltons continually strives to produce and maintain an accurate and current library of industry know-how. These know-how documents are then shared and distributed to clients. The firm regularly publishes in-depth newsletters and articles on current awareness and relevant developments within all areas of the firm’s expertise. These are freely distributed to subscribers and are made available to view on the firm’s website. Charltons believes in the importance of information access for all and that by sharing our knowledge and experience, we are providing clients with the high level of service that the firm prides itself on.

Claire helps maintain Charltons’ information and knowledge resources. She ensures that the systems are in place to allow lawyers to easily store, access and share their knowledge and experience with colleagues and clients. The more streamlined and efficient these processes are, the more time lawyers have to dedicate to providing effective legal solutions to clients. Both hard copy and electronic information must be effectively stored and be easily accessible. The systems and practices that Charltons has in place enable the firm to provide the best quality expertise and service to its clients. Claire’s years of experience help the firm to implement and maintain effective information management systems and follow industry best practice when it comes to utilising the wealth of knowledge and experience brought by Charltons’ team of highly qualified, dedicated and experienced lawyers.
